I have attended some insightful Professional Development, and my overall favourite has been the Midwest Band and Orchestra Convention in Chicago that happens annually. I have been twice and wow it brings loads of innovative ideas and resources to incorporate immediately into any music classroom. The Midwest convention happens to also be a beautiful refresher since I graduated and have participated minimally in music since 2015.
My professional development goal for next year will be to attend the “Quality Daily Physical Education” Conference at Douglas College to gain ideas and here from keynotes such as Darcy Marquardt (3 time Olympian).
Besides the mandatory Professional Developments we attend, and even the non-mandatory ones, here are a few resources that help mold my dynamic personal teaching pedagogy that I actually thoroughly enjoyed reading, learning from and using throughout my teachings:
