The highlights of the competencies I have been developing with my students throughout practicum are embedded in each of the attached lesson plans.  Feel free to take a sneak peak, steal ideas and see how I embed competencies into my Psychology 11, First Peoples History 12 and Social Studies 10 classes.  You’ll find a theme that I tend to lean towards critical thinking, communication and collaboration as my staples.

Here are some 21st century competencies to consider when scaffolding lessons and embedding/building competencies:

  • Critical Thinking
  • Communication
  • Intercultural Awareness
  • Social Justice
  • Information & Digital Literacy
  • Numeric & Scientific Literacy
  • Collaboration & Teamwork
  • Civic, Ethical & Professional Responsibility
  • Creativity/Innovation
A note from the Author:
Just dropping a selfie as I write this blog, making it personal, you know, what a real blogger should do from time to time I suppose. My mug says “I am a teacher, what is your superpower?” A student gave it to me a year ago and told me “Wonder Woman has nothing on you.” I will take that compliment to my grave.
